mmmmm

b and i have been eating so good today! mmm. this morning i made us spinach, green onion, sausage, tomato and mexican cheese crustless quiche (totally randomly thrown together, too…and i have never made quiche before. w00t!) and tonight for dinner we’re having marinated carne asada steak kabobs with red pearl onions, grape tomatoes and red, green, yellow and orange bell pepper. i’m very excited about it :0) and the red onions were fun cause you boil them for three minutes, soak them in cold water, cut off the root end then squeeze the little onions out. reminds me of roasted garlic..maybe that’s why i liked doing it so much. the onions were tasty too…very mellow and it’ll be really delicious i think.
today we went to portland for a few record stores, but stopped off at the goodwill in SE first. I found a dresser that i want HORRIBLY bad to use as a buffet in the dining room. its amazing. and only $50. but i know it’ll be gone by the time we can get back there with the parent’s van, so i gave up and bought myself some patent leather pointy toe heels instead which were comfortable and $5 (not that i need more heels, but i don’t have any pointy ones yet!) We did some thrifty shopping yesterday too and i ended up with a totally fun 1950’s office chair that is sea foam green vinyl. it pretty much rocks and will look fabulous in the office when i’m done in there. I also found a new comforter that is gorgeous…light gray satiny material that is kinda quilted/embroidered and had two pillow shams with it too. the comforter is HUGE which is fabulous cause inevitably gib ends up stealing all the covers cause his lazy ass crawls in and spreads out and he weighs a ton and pretty much goes completely limp when you try to move him because he knows eventually you’ll just give up. so our bed is all awesome now cause i finally put the new IKEA sheets on as well, so i felt like i was sleeping in a brand new bed. but with the gray as a neutral and the brown as a neutral i think i need some color in that room. i’ve been thinking maybe turquoise or orange as accents. but i don’t know yet.
i want more punches of color in our rooms. all our furniture and stuff is mostly neutral, we like a lot of black and gray and brown. There is an orange wall in the living room and a green chair, but i still think our living room is a little bland. i want a coffee table and some fun throw pillows. and if we find a beat-up coffee table, i’m totally going to repaint it some fun color. i think our only preference is that it is rectangular and has claw feet or mid-century mod legs.
we’ve had a pretty fun weekend this weekend. lots of thrifting, which i adore, plus record shopping that makes b happy. and tons of hanging out with friends, and animals too! We got to see our friends Pitbull again, Desdemona, who is the biggest sweetheart (Gib wasn’t as much of a fan), and I also got to meet Amanda’s newest addition, Eme. totally ADORABLE. Gibil and her will have to be boyfriend-girlfriend when she’s old enough. ha ;0) we would have had even more hanging out with friends, but today’s friend hanging outness got postponed until next weekend. oh well, more fun stuff to look forward to next weekend, with fabric shopping and lovely friends.
